Introducing Sammy Lou!
Sammy Lou's Bake Shop opened its doors on April 1, 2023, but the story starts earlier than that. "Sammy Lou" — short for Sammy Lou La Belle — was the nickname Sam's dad gave her. Even though he's no longer here, carrying that name forward felt like the most natural thing in the world.
After 17 years as a stay-at-home mom with no formal training, food was just always how Sam showed up for the people she loved. Opening the bakery meant more people got to be on the receiving end of that.
Everything is made from scratch, every single time — and a good number of the recipes, especially the Christmas cookies, have been in the family for years. On the days when things get busy, you'll find the whole family showing up too. And through it all, the Strasburg community has been right there with us — warm, welcoming, and supportive from day one. We don't take that lightly.
